Hello! You're viewing now "Debating Society" page, which I can call the relic of the past. ^_^ It was created loooooong time ago with an intention to provide Yoshi fans with a Forum-like page, where they could talk to each other... Now we've got "YOT Forums", a proffesional on-line Board so this page seems to be useless....NO! I will not just throw it away, I respect all words which was sent me by Yoshi fans. "Debating Society" will stay in YOT as a memento: this Shrine had to grow and develop to reach the present level... and I will do everything to make Yoshimitsu Obsession Team be even more great! ^_^ Remember: Yoshimitsu Forever!
Since now, this page is devoted for everybody who would like to present their "Yoshimitsu obsession history". ^_^ How long have you been obsessed with Yoshi? I know there are many Yoshi fans that are a loyal Yoshi freak [ ^_^ ] from the very beginning, that is since Tekken 1. ^_^ [ I know some posts are not connected with this topic... but I'm just not able to delete them! ^_^ I love all your comments so much! ] Maybe I mean you? Tell us something about you!
Anyway, if you want to send me some comments, feel free! ^_^ I will definitely add them here.

Title: My story...
|
|
Well....somebody
had to begin a conversation...
I've been fascinated in Yoshimitsu since Tekken 2 appeared. I
remember my first play... the character select field... All characters
had such angry or sad face expressions... and then I saw Yoshi,
smiled as if he didn't care about the tournament... This smile...
and red eyes. The red eyes saying "Don't drive me mad, or..."
What a combination! And this mysterious shadow falling on his
face... I picked him without hesitation. I played Yoshi in spite
the fact that I was losing all the time, my friends recommended
me Paul or Kazuya... My reaction?: "No way! Paul sucks, he
looks like { all the worst }, Kazuya is cheap... Yoshimitsu is
the best!" I stayed with Yoshi when nobody gave him any chance...
That was Tekken 2. When Tekken 3 came to game centers, I was much
more prepared and experienced. I had the required knowledge [
I read many articles, strategies... everything which was available...],
but I suffered from lack of practice...ouch...
The fact is that finally I was doing more and more fine... my
friends even started respecting Yoshimitsu [ and that's the point!
I was doing everything to prove that Yoshi IS the master! ]...
but still, I wasn't that good. What a pitty I didn't have PlayStation
to practise...[ and I still don't have... I play Tekken once a
week with my friend! ]
Then Tekken Tag Tournament came... that was the time my skills
grew to the present level. I still play Tekken Tag [ hardly ever,
but I do! ]- this is my favourite game. My style of fighting is
quite defensive [ you may ask: "Yoshi defensive???!!!"
Yes! And I'm doing fine! However, I'm gradually switching to offensive...
well, sometimes I cannot deal with a defensive opponent... ].
There are so many things I want to know, to learn... life isn't
fair!
That's my story. Eh? Are you sleeping there? Wake up! ^_^ |

I'm playing
him since Tekken1, and is my Second best character in Soul Calibur...
its my only char in Tekken 4...
Im the only one that plays Yoshi around here (I live in Venezuela).
Lots of players say Yoshi sucks but when they fight me they usualy
change their minds =)

Title: Good point, Cyan! |
Yeah... people underestimate Yoshimitsu VERY often. Yoshi is my BEST char in all games, the second position belongs to Kazuya, Mitsurugi & Taki [Soul Calibur ] and the Ogres. The third place in my rating belongs to others ^_^ . BTW, what's your best char in Soul Calibur?

First Comment: You're only a hard-core fan if you play Yoshi in tournaments, esp with money on the line. If you chicken out and play Mishimas, Steve, etc, then take back seat, cuz you aren't HARD-CORE. ;) Second: Okay here's your second comment. Woo! Pretty cool stuff, Tenshi. Like I said on TZ, I hope to build my on VG ninja site and have all kinds of captured combos from T2 through T4 on the PS2. Anyways, keep it up.

Title: Yoshimitsu Forever
|
I started playing fighting games way back with Fist on the C64. Then I moved on to consoles and Street Fighter, and eventually Tekken 2. When I arrived, I happened upon a particular character - Yoshimitsu! Already publicised lots in the legendary 'Translocation' TV advertisement, Yoshi won my heart with his insane moves, his ridiculous voice and his rather nifty sword.
I wasn't able to play particularly well with him, but I didn't care.
Then Tekken 3 came out. Everyone was really good at it, and not having the time to learn anyone properly for a while I opted for Nina due to her very cheap Blonde Bomb. Later however, I resolved that now Yoshimitsu looked even cooler and possessed (of all things) a Lightsabre, I just HAD to get good with him.
What a discovery I made! Yoshimitsu was graceful, clever, fast, and unhinged. He doesn't play like any other Tekken character - if you want to win, you really have to work hard for it. He's impossible to mash, and idiots quickly tire of him since all his impressive moves require dedication to use and even more to master.
By the time Tekken Tag arrived, only my brother was still able to defeat me at all, with Paul. Pairing Yoshi with his exact opposite - Bryan Fury, I now had a veritable dream team. If Yoshi's speed and madness fell into a lull, I brought on the muscle to finish the job. If muscle wasn't enough, I tagged in the Space ninja. I was unstoppable. No one can fight Yoshimitsu and not get sword-slashed at least once or twice. The sword and other unblockables break the usual rules of how to fight, and are wonderfully useful at annoying good players and breaking tight blocking deadlocks.
Yoshi is simply the man. Now that Tekken 4 is here, playing him through Tekken Force mode is the greatest fighting game experience I've ever felt. Bryans new ending just makes all the sense in the world to me after I teamed them in Tekken Tag, and my only wish is that he could be reunited with either his Tekken 3 signature music or given somethnig similar in the future, since one of the key positives to him that no opponent could deny was that his theme was ten times better than any other characters', and once it began I fought like an offensive demon that was nigh-impossible to overcome.

Title: My Yoshi Story
|
Tekken 2 was where I first saw Yoshi. At the time I owned a Super Nintendo (which I haven't even looked since I got a Playstation) and it was my neighbor who introduced me to Tekken.
I had gone over to his house one day and he and a friend where playing Tekken 2. I watched them for a while before one of them asked if I wanted to try. I said sure and took hold of the controller. I fliped through the characters, not really finding anyone that looked all that interesting until, I came across Yoshi. And that did it, I was hooked. I loved everything about him, the mask, the sword, the armor, everything, it didn,t even matter if I couldn,t use him very well. I was at my neighbor's house almost every day playing Tekken, and it was all because of Yoshi.
On top of playing Tekken I was collecting everything that was Tekken and Yoshi. I was drawing picture after picture of him, first coping the original images of him to perfect the way he looked before making my own.
Then Tekken 3 came out in the arcades. And I still didn't have a Playstation. I was in the arcades as much as possable. And I found that when play in the arcades, not a single person I played aginst used Yoshi, no it was always Paul (who is cheap) or Jin, even Nina and King. I figured all those people were intimidated by Yoshi's style. It felt good knowing that I wasn't afraid to use him. When I finaly got a Playstation the first game I bought for it was Tekken 3. Then the hunt for the first two games was next on my list.
I was over joyed when Tekken Tag Tournament came out I was in the arcades as much as possable. paring Yoshi up with just about everyone else trying to find who worked the best with him (unfortunately I'm still trying to figure that out).
Now I'm desprately trying to get a Playstation 2 so I can buy TTT, Tekken 4 and Soul Caliber 2, as I have little time or money to be at the arcades every day.

I want to comment on what Cyanmitsu said. I totally understand what you mean. I live in Indiana (and yes there's is more than corn in Indiana, there's Me, people call me YOSHI!![Such an honor]). Anyway, here in IN, I am probably the only Yoshi player and so I don't have much experience fighting my own character. Title: How I Chose Yoshi...
|
I use to be a big, BIG Mortal Kombat fan, but when Mortal Kombat Trilogy came to arcade, I lost my interest to fighting games. Sure, I would play random fighting games when my present friends had them. But nothing looked good to me anymore.
I played RPGs for a long while. Final Fantasy became something I related life to. Final Fantasy VII's Cloud was probably my biggest swordplay inspiration. I took classes on the art of Bushido for two-three years. The class started with three students, and then the other two students persues new pathes. I was the last fencer and so it was just me and my teacher. Finally, my teacher had to let me go, but that doesn't mean I stopped practicing. The way of the samurai became both a hobby and became something I felt was important to continue.
Anyway, when Tekken 3 came to the PlayStation. When I bought it, I play Yoshimitsu in search of new sword techniques. As I played Yoshi, I enjoyed the showmanship in Yoshi's swordsmanship. I practiced every move Yoshimitsu had but I still wasn't into the game that much.
When Tekken 4 came to arcade, I was bad. As my friends went to the mall to play Dance Dance Revolution(which I hate!), I played Tekken 4 as they danced. I played advanced people and lost more times than I won. My friends played Tekken with me too, and with time, came wisdom and experience. I learned more and more about Yoshi. Yoshi served me well since not many people played him or knew what he could do.
As I played my friends, they would learn how to avoid my tricks, so I would have to learn new assault procedures. And through this, I had to search everywhere to find new material from the internet. In this quest, I stubbled into this website, I now..., I am a member to this delightful site under the name of Nixelmitsu, a samurai who now supports this site with the best of his wisdom and skill.
May Yoshimitsu live to be immortal.

Title: Yoshimitsu...
|
I never really played a lot of fighting games when i was young. In my opinion they were all quite boring, and i did not pay much attention to them.
Man, was i mistaking! It all changed when i visited my nephew for his birthday.
His parents gave him a Playstation and a game: Tekken 3. (it was out for only a week)
At the character selection screen, one fighter automaticly drew my attention. It was Yoshi...
It was if he was saying to me "Hey, choose me! I promise you won't regret it!"
Indeed i did not regret it... In fact, in my opinion he was the coolest character in any game i ever saw!!
His looks, his movement, his sword! Wow, awesome!
I was surprised about the low learing curve of the game: the movement, the basic punches and kicks were all so easy to learn- And so difficult to master ^__^
As you can understand i spent a lot of time at my nephew's house from that day on. Practicing and trying out new moves. Every day after school we played for many hours.
At that time i did not really have a strategy. Nor did i know all Yoshi's moves.
That changed when the PS2 did its entry.
My heart skipped a beat when i noticed TTT...
I had to play it! I had to learn more about Yoshi!
Because i did not had enough money to buy a PS2, i played at friends' house whenever i had the operunity! It was soo cool! My love for Yoshi grew everytime i played. I searched the internet to find more and more information about the mysterious Space Ninja.
A few years passed. Word of Tekken 4 reached me.
I was so excited! I dicided to buy a PS2 and Tekken 4 and TTT as soon as possible.
My friends get angry sometimes. They say: "You always choose Yoshi! Cant you choose anyone else!? So many characters are better than he!"
I dont care what they say.
Despite their words Yoshimitsu remains the best.
He always was, and he always shall be. Amen.

Title: Link spawns Heihachi ?
|
Yes, i heard about Heihachi's role in Soul Calibur 2 a week ago.
The grizzled old Heihachi has somehow turned up in a game set hundreds of years before his own (can't wait to see if they try and explain that one!) and he looks as grumpy and weatherbeaten as ever.
Mad hair intact, he is also the first ever character to appear in a Soul game to fight unarmed (!)
I find this strange, becouse i remember seeing a picture on internet of Heihachi carrying 2 swords... Hmmm- Anyway, i think its a quite original
idea from Namco to put a unarmed character in the game: I like it!
One thing i dont really like is that McFarlane thing; a green hulking brute named Necrid.
I dont like Spawn- Even though he might fit well in the Soul Calibur universe, his past is too dark for my taste. I would much rather had Link in the Playstation version of Soul Calibur 2- Link looks cool!^__^

Heihachi's 2p costume is the black gi, which i like.
Link 2p is red outfit. Spawn 2p is w/o mask, He has a zombie/deadbody
face, it real good. Hei's story is that he finds a piece of the evil
sword and is sent back in time. Now SC Yoshi can steal from Heihachi like
Tekken Yoshi always does-haha I kinda
like Spawn, i guess i like the more evil looking guys. But Link might
be the most fun character, he has bow and arrow, boomarang, bombs. Link
looks like he fits in with the SC guys the best.

Title: My own Yoshi - story...
|
Hello people...
Well I`ll add my own Yoshi story here.
I bought Tekken 3 before 2 years.I rarely ever played it,but even then
one of my favourite characters was Yoshimitsu.
I liked his outfit,face,sword...and the fact he is weird.
Actually,I was button masher.I used Eddy or Gon,and just mashed the
buttons.
I used Yoshimitsu too,but I couldn`t mash with him,so I didn`t use him
too much.
I played with Eddy, and mashed «so good»,that some of my friends said
that I am best Eddy player...lol...that`s so funny for me now...
Anyways,I wasn`t a really good Tekken player, because other mashers who
used Hwoarang and just pressed X,X,X,X,X.....for his 8-hit combo always
defeated me.
I was so angry of those «bastards»,even though I was a masher myself.
Then...after long time,I surfed the internet,and saw Tragic`s
Yoshimitsu FAQ on GameFAQs.
I downloaded it,and read the first part of it.Then,I spotted the text:
«Yoshimitsu is arguably one of the most potent characters in Tekken 3.
However,
he is also one of the more difficult characters to play effectively.
Yoshi is
an excellent mix of power/speed/cunning and can be almost unstoppable
in the
hands of a master. In the wrong hands, Yoshi is nothing more than +1 on
a win
streak. A good Yoshi player can juggle as well as he/she pokes. With
Yoshi, if
you don't have the all around game down, you will have a tough time
against
even average opponents. Read this guide a few times, soak up as much of
it as
you can, then head to the arcade and practice. Yoshi is 95% execution,
and 5% luck (IMHO).»
That part where he says Yoshimitsu is almost unstoppable in the hands
of a master really impressed me!
I thought:»HEY!THAT`S MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER!
AND HE WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE IN MY HANDS!»
I started downloading more FAQs and mastering Yoshimitsu every day.
I played Tekken 3 all day, only with Yoshimitsu.I became really obsessed
with him.I thank Tragic every day for making me love Yoshimitsu, and
master him.Thanks Tragic!!!
I also wrote Yoshimitsu FAQ(took me pretty long though),and became even
more obsessed with him, played him longer, and increased my Yoshi-skills.
After that,I searched the internet for Yoshimitsu ending movies, and
found YOT.It was amazing!
»That`s THE page for me» I said.
After that,I submitted my Yoshimitsu FAQ,and met Tenshimitsu,a great
friend and surely a Yoshi master. On YOT,we could share our Yoshimitsu
FAQs,Fan Arts,Fan Fictions,Obsession syndroms
^_^,tactics,strategies,juggles and much more.
It`s surely one of my favourite pages on the internet.
I started drawing Yoshi, writing stories about him, downloading his
movies, his sounds, sharing my Yoshi experience with other Yoshi lovers, and I
tried to attract more Tekken beginners to pick Yoshi as their character
and master him like I did(I hope ^_^).
I also played Tekken 4 Yoshi, but I was a bit dissapointed because he is
really a lot weaker there,so I stick to Tekken 3 version of my
favourite character in gaming universe.
I hope Tekken 5 version will be better...
I still play Yoshi,but I`m mastering other characters too.Anyways,I
will never leave the character who changed my life and made me obsessed
unlike any other character!
Yoshimitsu Forever!!!

i would have used the Yoshi forum but it isn't working

Hmm, you are right in a way, Janetmirsu. Brian was created by the jealous Br. Abel to kill Yoshimitsu. And Kunimitsu.. well, I quess she would want to see Yoshi's head impaled on a stick. f(^_^')
But still.. they both are very interisting and great fighters who add much atmosphere to the story-line. Brian has Tribal tattoo's all over his body; I mean, issn't that cool, or what!? Did I mention Kunimitsu looks very cute in her tight purple outfit?
I think it's very possible for people to like other characters without betrailling their loyalty towards Yoshimitsu ^_^

Title: Ignorant Yoshi fans...
|
Well, you know, some people really do not care about
storyline, so they like characters like Bryan and Kunimitsu but still play
Yoshimitsu.
Some Tekken players just pick a character who they like altough that
he/she is against their favourite character.
For example, I hate Kunimitsu, but I like playing as Bryan, even he is
against Yoshimitsu. I like his moves, his fighting style and all other
good things, that's why I play as him. In that point I don't care is he
against Yoshi or not, he is fun and good so I play as him!
After all, everybody has the right for choice. Everybody can pick their
favourite character(s), and nobody should change that.

Title: Yoshi Made Me Buy Tekken
|
I remember the advert for Tekken 2 (pal).
It was a shot of a fight in the Serene Forest. Yoshi vs Paul. Yoshi sat
down, warped behind paul and used a Death slash KOing Paul. Then the
camera switches to Yoshi doing his celebration ( the one where he slashes
his sword in the air.) This made me buy Tekken 1 (as tekken 2 was too
expensive for me then) and went through the characters until I found the
celebration and the greatest character ever.
