Yoshi's Setups and Tricks

Hi everyone. SIA if there is another topic similar to this, but I'd like to discuss some generic gameplay stuff.
I'll make a few points.

1) Simple moves you do randomly. Pretty self-explaining.
- d/b+1,1 - I start with this one, because it is so underestimated. Totally safe on block, it's mid that tracks decently, NC and good damage. A bit slow, yes, but overall great move for me.
- 2,3 - The move I throw out for disruption (CH fishing). NCc, probably a bad habit though.
- d/b 3,3... - ofc ^^
- u/f 2 - Good low that's hard to see in a vacuum. Followed up by Sword Sweep.

2) Setups. Generally frame traps, but not only.
- b+1,1 - Usually not more than 2. Positive frames on block, followed by qcb 1+2 or a transition to d/b 3s.
- WS 1,1,1,1 - +2 on block, follow with u/f 3 for launch.
- SS4~KIN - I do this a lot. Excellent bait on whiff.
- u+3+4 - +4 on block, d/f 2,2 or just a simple f+1+2 work.

3) Mind games. What to do to make your opponent block in the wrong time or place?
- f+3,3 / f3,4 - People tend to auto-crouch after the 3, so f3,4 seems viable.
- d/b 1~qcb 1+2 - the animation makes people think the second hit is coming anyway.
- d/f 3,[1] / d/f 3,1 - Rarely, but nice against turtles.
- d/b3,3,3... -> Sword Sweep - Again, everyone stands up after you finish low kicks. Sweep them ^^

4) Ground pressure.
- u+3+4 - f1+2~B! becomes a tech trap!

These were off the top of my head. Share your play style and comment please :)
Cheers

mindgames well FC u/f+3 might be a good for you since you like sword sweep that much,

okizame for back rollers. d/f+1 f+1+2 WR 4,1 b+2,1 f+3+4 4~3 qfc+3 u/f+1+2

against low kicks from face up feet towards. u+3+4 u/f+3+4 flea 1+2

siderollers, sword sweep, FC 4

Thats it so far anyways I´m glad you started a topic like this I feelt like we could give eachother a few more hints tips from time to time but never opent a topic so thanks

u/f 3+4 changed to u+3+4 ofc, me n00b :P

Thx for the u/f+3, I forget about jump moves from FC.
While we're at FC, how do you feel about KIN punishing super unsafe lows (like Bryan's sweep <-29>)?

okizame for back rollers. d/f+1 f+1+2 WR 4,1 b+2,1 f+3+4 4~3 qfc+3 u/f+1+2
If you can really connect anything relevant post f+3+4 other than FLE 2, then this is crazy.
Tip for backrollers from me: If you like messing with b+1s post u/f+3 - b+2,1~KIN 1+2 ending will catch them.

against low kicks from face up feet towards. u+3+4 u/f+3+4 flea 1+2
Wouldn't simple u+3+4~f+1+2~B! work better?

You're welcome :)

To point it out strait I´m not to familiar with frames and punishing :))

Who are you, Ryder? From what city?
Perhaps I can teach you a thing or two, because regardless some mistakes, some of your setups are clearly for an inexperienced opponent.

- Also: correct: 2,3 incorrect: 1,3.
- u/f+2 is very easy to see, playing with u/f+2~d is highly recommended.
- WS+1,1,1,1 - can duck-punish under second and third easily, no setup.

"- u+3+4 - +4 on hit, d/f 2,2 or just a simple f+1+2 work." - ??? you probably meant +4 on block. The second part is for juggle on hit? I don't understand.

"- u+3+4 - f1+2~B! becomes a tech trap!" - it's not a tech trap, but guaranteed stuff on hit.
u+3+4, f+1+2, b+2,1 KIN f+2 (70+ damage)

- f+3,3 and f+3,4 is not a guess up at all. Fuzzy block is enough. If your low get blocked, you're badly punished.

Yeah I mess stuff up badly in some cases.
- u+3+4 - f1+2~B! becomes a tech trap!" - it's not a tech trap, but guaranteed stuff on hit.
I'm fairly sure it is, I was talking about u+3+4 hitting a grounded opponent.

And yes, I terribly need a good player to train with offline. I don't know anyone decent in person here in Bdg. I'm limited to playing online with those who have a good connection with me.

It'd be awesome if we could play some matches :)
